Sustrans becomes Walk Wheel Cycle Trust
Share
Since their formation in 1977, the charity Sustrans has been working to make travel more sustainable, communities more connected, streets safer and the air cleaner.
Although not familiar to everyone, Sustrans are behind the National Cycle Network, a UK-wide network of signed routes for exploring outdoors, whilst keeping away from traffic for a safer, more enjoyable journey.
Sustrans are now Walk Wheel Cycle Trust, and not only have a new name, but also a renewed mission to "deliver more joy per journey, more peace per pedal, more smiles per mile" as they focus on initiatives to further improve journeys and recreation for people across the UK.
As well as promoting sustainable, safer travel, they also work in partnership with other professional and statutory bodies to tackle the challenges of congestion, air pollution, physical inactivity, and social inequality, by making it easier for people to walk and cycle.
